Announcing the Watchlight AI Founding Design Partner Program

Today marks a significant milestone for Watchlight AI.

We are officially opening the Founding Design Partner Program: an invitation for a small number of organizations to join us in defining how autonomous AI agents should be governed at runtime in enterprise environments.

This has been a long road. And it is just the beginning.

Why This Moment Matters

Over the past year, we have watched AI agents evolve from research curiosities into production systems that interact with real enterprise infrastructure. Agents are calling APIs, accessing databases, invoking tools, delegating to other agents, and making decisions that affect customers, operations, and compliance posture.

The industry has moved fast. Governance has not kept pace.

Traditional Identity and Access Management was designed for a world of human users and predictable service identities. It was not designed for autonomous actors that choose their own tools, chain actions across systems, and operate at machine speed. The gap between what agents can do and what organizations can govern is widening every day.

We started Watchlight AI because we believed a new architectural layer was needed. Not a policy document. Not a checklist. Infrastructure. A runtime governance layer that sits between identity systems and agent frameworks, governing every action, every delegation, every tool invocation as it happens.

We called it Agent Runtime Governance.

What We Have Built So Far

Over the past several months, we have been heads down building. We published the 12 Non-Negotiable Principles for Agent Runtime Governance, a whitepaper that lays out the architectural requirements for governing autonomous agents in production. We wrote deep-dive posts on each principle, from agent identity to tool and service governance. We engaged with security leaders, identity architects, and AI platform teams across the industry to pressure-test our thinking.

And we have been building the platform.

Watchlight AI Beacon is the control plane we have been developing to bring Agent Runtime Governance to life. It includes an agent and MCP server registry with trust state management, a topology view that maps how agents connect to services across your environment, an intent and goal-based authorization engine, and a runtime policy enforcement layer built on formal authorization models.

These are early capabilities. They are real, they are functional, and they are ready to be shaped by the organizations that will use them.

Why a Design Partner Program

We could have built in isolation and shipped when we thought it was ready. We chose a different path.

The challenges that Agent Runtime Governance addresses are new. The patterns are emerging. The right answers depend on real-world deployments, real operational constraints, and real security requirements that vary across organizations and industries.

We do not believe we have all the answers. We believe the best way to build something that matters is to build it collaboratively, with the teams that are closest to the problem.

The Founding Design Partner Program is how we do that.

What the Program Looks Like

We are forming a cohort of 3 to 5 partner organizations for a 3 to 6 month collaboration. This is not a beta test. It is not a sales pipeline. It is a working partnership.

Partners will help us explore and validate key architectural patterns:

  • Agent identity and trust models
  • Runtime authorization and delegation chains
  • Policy enforcement for agent actions across APIs and services
  • Discovery and inventory of AI agents and MCP servers
  • Secure credential brokering for autonomous systems
  • Auditability and accountability for agent behavior

In return, partners receive early access to Watchlight AI Beacon capabilities, direct influence on the architecture and roadmap, collaboration on reference architectures, recognition as a Founding Design Partner, and preferential commercial terms when we reach general availability.

Who This Is For

The program is intended for organizations that are actively building or deploying AI agents in enterprise environments. Teams exploring agentic workflows across APIs and SaaS platforms. Organizations building internal AI platforms or orchestration frameworks. Security and identity teams that are starting to ask hard questions about how to govern autonomous systems.

If your organization is in that position, we would welcome the conversation.

A Personal Note

I started Watchlight AI because I spent over two decades building enterprise identity and security systems, and I could see that the arrival of autonomous AI agents was going to change the assumptions that those systems were built on. The question was not whether governance would be needed. It was whether the governance infrastructure would be ready when the agents arrived.

That is what we are building. And today, we are inviting others to build it with us.

This is not about having everything figured out. It is about having the conviction that this problem matters, the humility to know we need partners to solve it well, and the commitment to do the work.

If that resonates, we would love to hear from you.
